e-Invoicing in Malaysia

e-Invoice will be implemented in phases to ensure smooth transition. The roll-out of e-Invoice has been planned with careful consideration, taking into account the turnover or revenue thresholds, to provide taxpayers with sufficient time to prepare and adapt to the e-Invoice implementation.

The implementation timeline:

  • Taxpayers with an annual turnover or revenue of more than RM100 million – 1 Aug 2024
  • Taxpayers with an annual turnover or revenue of more than RM25 million and up to RM100 million – 1 Jan 2025
  • Taxpayers with an annual turnover or revenue of more than RM500,000 – 1 Jul 2025
  • All taxpayers with an annual turnover or revenue of more than RM150,000 – 1 Jan 2026

Minimum Wage Laws in Sarawak

The Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC) Sarawak Division has issued a reminder to employers and workers regarding the implementation of the Minimum Wage Order (PGM), which has come into effect on February 1, 2025, setting the minimum wage at RM1,700 per month.

Chairman of MTUC Sarawak Division, Zaidi Nasar, stated that this order mandates employers with five or more employees to comply with the minimum wage requirement.

He added that employers engaged in professional activities are also subject to the order, regardless of the number of workers employed.

For employers with fewer than five employees, the order will be effective from August 1, 2025.

Tax Submissions for YA2024

The submission of Return Form (RF) for Year Assessment 2024 via e-Filing for Forms E, BE, B, M, BT, MT, P, TF and TP Forms commences on March 1st 2025.

Income tax is tax imposed on income from employment, business, dividends, rents, royalties, pensions, and other income received by individuals, companies, cooperatives, associations, and others in a year.
